Legion Post 110 Monthly Meeting Minutes – 15 May 2008
The
meeting was called to order at 1930 by the presiding Commander Wally Timmons.
A
roll-call of officers was conducted by the Adjutant, Laura Alexander.

of the previous meeting read by Craig Huber and approved.

Speakers:
Kevin Guterman and Kevin Kelly, as
representatives of the Bishop Sulivan Catholic High School, spoke to us of their selection as representative to Boy's State. They will return in Julu to report on their experiences.
The following Issues
were presented by the Commander:
Wally
reported on a number of up-coming events of interest to the Post membership:

Town Hall meeting at the VFW Post
-
Service Officer's Meeting; discussed the Wounded Warrior Act.

Veterans Day Parade 2009; American Legion will help as sponsors for this event.
- District Meeting in June - The quorum votes to challenge the increase in dues and recommend a $0.50 per member dues.
The following
Committee Reports were made:
1. Financial Report:
Steve Sokolowski made no report.
2.
Membership Report: Laura read the report that Post 110 had 485 members and that we needed 534 to attain 100% (representing a current 93.15%). The 2nd District was in 13th place.
3.
Americanism: Wally reported that the ROTC Awards would be presented on Friday at 1830, Landstowne High School. We would be presenting two awards, Scholorship and Military Excellence. The $1000 scholorship will be presented 30 May at 8 AM.
4.
Boys Scouts:
Troop 172 in NY is sponsoring care packages to the troops, consisting of 175 cases of popcorn. He has the information if you would like to help financially.
5.
Membership Reminder: Your 2007-2008 dues are past due for payment,
and cost $30. Please mail to the Post as soon as possible to help
us meet our membership goals and support our programs! Our Post membership renewals are
currently at 93%.
6. The Memorial Day Observance will be held at the Veteran's Memorial at 1100. Please come to help lay the wreath with other Post 110 members.
7. The meeting was turned over to Laura Alexander to elect the Commander for next year. Wally Timmons was unanamously elected to a second term.
The following
topics were discussed for the good of the Legion:
1. Blood Drives are being
arranged by Mark McMillan at the Red Cross behind the Sears Store at
Pembrook Mall. Mark is also
planning a joint venture with VFW Post 392. Contact Mark if you can assist on a
Saturday morning.
The
meeting was adjourned at 2030.
